May your flour bin never be empty!
OUR GRAIN
We specialise in raw Ancient grains, sometimes referred to as heritage grains.
Ancients grains like Spelt, Emmer and Einkorn are variety of wheats that have existed for hundreds of years. Spelt is even mentioned in the Old Testament in the Bible. Compared to modern wheats, of which there are numerous variety, these wheats have not been altered to suit commercialised production where quantity, due to demand, is prioritised over quality. Read more about the types of grains we use here.
OUR FLOUR
At the Flour Bin we use the stoneground milling process to produce quality and healthy flour.
Using a stonegrinding mill ensures the grain is not overheated, which causes loss of valuable vitamins and minerals, instead it gently grinds each kernel into first rate flour. We believe by using raw grains we can offer the purest flour base for any food. Our flours do not need any additives to produce a nutritious and delicious loaf or healthy and scrumptious scone. There is so much goodness in our flour, we explain it in more detail for you here.

SPELT
GRAIN

Spelt is one of the oldest cultivated grains and one of the 'Hulled' wheats.
The Spelt kernel has an exceptionally thick husk which needs to be de-hulled and broken from its husk before processing. However, the tough hulls give the grains protection in the field and in storage; helps to retain nutrients and maintain freshness over a longer period than other grains; and may help the grain to tolerate wet soil conditions by protecting it from some fungal diseases.
The people curse him who holds back grain [when the public needs it], but a blessing [from God and man] is upon the head of him who sells it. Proverbs.
